Explore a variety of resources to help you with your online education.

Technical Requirements

It is recommended your computer’s operating system is equal to or newer than Windows 7 or Mac OS 10.6. You will also need high speed internet service with a minimum bandwidth speed of 10 mbps to access your course materials.

Most online courses at Purdue Fort Wayne use Blackboard Learn, an online course management system. If your class is not using Blackboard Learn, you will need to contact your instructor for the technical specification requirements.

Brightspace

Brightspace will connect you with your course information and assignments. You will need a user ID and password to access your Brightspace course. The credentials to log-in are the same as your goPFW ID and password.

Proctored Testing

You may take your proctored test on campus or online at Purdue Fort Wayne Testing Services. See the following directions. If distance is an obstacle in coming to campus, check with a local university or public library to see if they can proctor an exam. If you choose this option, you must provide the name of the institution, contact person, and phone number to Purdue Fort Wayne at 260-481-6111 or online@pfw.edu.

Signing Up

Contact Testing Services at 260-481-6600 when you are ready to schedule your test. No walk-ins are permitted. The instructor will list exam dates on their syllabus and will approve any extensions or exceptions to these dates. If you have an extension or exception, your instructor will notify Testing Services; however, you must still call and schedule your appointment.

Testing appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis, to receive the day and time that works best for your schedule please call well in advance of the beginning date for each exam. Please be aware that children are not allowed in the testing rooms or in the testing lab.

Examinations are given during the following days and times in Kettler Hall, Room 232:

  • Mondays–Thursdays, 8:30 a.m, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5:45 p.m.
  • Fridays, 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Please arrive 15 minutes early. If you arrive late, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, please listen to area radio and television stations to make sure that our campus is open.

Be sure to bring several pencils, pens, and any other materials (e.g., calculator, ruler, notes, textbooks) that your instructor has said you may use during the examination. You are responsible for bringing the necessary materials that you will need for your examination. Testing Services will proctor the exam according to your instructor’s directions only.

Indiana College Network

If you are interested in taking Indiana College Network online courses, you should see the ICN Guide. The guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to enroll in these courses.

If you are a student from a participating Indiana College Network institution and are interested in online learning at Purdue Fort Wayne, know that you must register and pay for courses through your home institution.

Dropping Procedures

To drop a course, complete the ICN Online Drop/Withdrawal Form. All drops are subject to the policies of Purdue Fort Wayne.

Course Information

If you are a new student, you will need to activate your goPFW student account. You will need to know your nine-digit student ID number. Please note that your Blackboard Learn course will be available on the first day of the semester.

Here’s how you can see course information:

  • Go to browse courses.
  • Select your term.
  • Select Purdue Fort Wayne Internet Classes (using the Location drop-down box).
  • Select View Class Schedule.
  • Select the linked CRN (course number).

Books

To find your textbook information, select the course title on the class schedule. You can order your textbooks through the Mastodon Campus Store at 260-483-6100, or going to the Bookstore. Please allow two weeks for delivery.
